Digital press clippings - direct from publishers

eClips is a database of newspaper cuttings taken directly from newspapers production systems and made available to press cuttings agencies as XML for local indexing, search and evaluation work. Clients access clippings as PDF files hosted by the NLA. eClips delivers many benefits to press cuttings agencies including; higher quality, more relevant and more timely clippings. It also removes the need for scanning which takes time, costs money and leads to degradation in images. The service meets client demand for sharper images, comprehensive national (including News International content) regional coverage and archive rights.

eClips service options

Press cuttings agencies can choose between three service delivery options depending on their specific and client requirements. These include an Image Data Service (IDS), an XML service and a Pay As You Go service. The XML subscription and PAYG services provide agencies with direct access to NLA hosted content for searching, selection and delivery to clients. Content is made available by midnight each day and can be delivered to clients after 4am, on the day of publication. Content is available for a period of 28 days. The service charging includes a fee for access to the database based on number of clients and an additional per copy fee, based on the number of copies supplied. Agencies get automatic access to UK national newspapers and can select from a comprehensive range of regional titles.
The IDS service provides larger agencies with a daily image data feed of cuttings which are stored on a secure press cuttings agency database. The service includes a search interface, keyword highlighting, comingling of content and delivery of content by 10pm daily.
The eClips database will soon be expanded to include
newspaper website content providing the most comprehensive coverage of on and offline newspaper content in the UK.
