Educational Licence
Newspapers are an invaluable source of inspiration for teachers and students. This licence is designed to give access to newspaper material for educational purposes, whilst being fully compliant with copyright law.
The licence allows copying from the national and regional newspapers, certain specialist and foreign titles and newspaper websites.
Subject to certain terms and conditions, this includes paper copying (photocopying, faxing and printing), digital copying (scanning, emailing and hosting on an intranet site) and the receipt and distribution of content received from a PR or licensed media monitoring agency.
Furthermore, this also covers the projection of content by illumination onto a screen and inclusion in study literature.
Copying can be undertaken on an occasional or frequent basis in both paper and digital formats, where elected.
The Licence Fee
This consists of a compulsory basic licence fee covering occasional copying from the national and regional newspapers and, if required, additional fees for frequent paper and digital copying. For new licensees there may be a charge for your previous unlicensed copying.
Full details of the licensing scheme and fees can be found in the NLA price list.
